Andrea Hermenau – Peter Cudek – Christian Lettner

The three passionate musicians – Andrea Hermenau (p/voc), Peter Čudek (b/e-b), and Christian Lettner (dr) – have created a sound all their own: a blend of powerful grooves, delicate soundscapes, and intricately crafted passages. Hermenau’s voice tells moving stories or sings breakneck, instrument-like vocalizations. It is a joyful, powerful journey through the rhythms of different worlds – all of which are interconnected by a zest for life and beauty, like oases that invite you to let your soul wander. The title of the trio’s debut album, released in 2025 on Laika Records, could hardly be more fitting: “Magia” is Slovak for “magical,” and the music of this international ensemble from Germany, Austria, and Slovakia is indeed magical.

Among other achievements, Peter Cudek won the Bremen Jazz Prize in 2016 after several international tours with “Trio Elf.” Together with his two fantastic fellow musicians, the trio celebrates jazz with a zest for life and at a high level, thrilling audiences in the process. Andrea Hermenau was nominated for the BMW Welt Jazz Award in 2020, and in 2021 she received the City of Munich’s Music Promotion Award. Christian Lettner, a highly virtuosic musician as well as a sensitive listener, is a professor of jazz percussion at Munich University of Applied Sciences and a longtime member of “Klaus Doldinger’s Passport.”
